Turkey Run State Park is probably my favorite park.  I say this not just because it is the one I visit most often but because it has a little bit of everything.   It has cliffs, canyons, woods, meadows, trails, covered bridges, an Inn, nature center, swimming pool, canoeing, camping, cabins, rock formations, and even a neat suspension bridge for good measure.   The trails are varied in length and difficulty but all have a lot to offer.  The park is open all year from 7am to 11pm. The Turkey Run Inn is also open year round and the dining room is open to the public. You can rent inn rooms or inn cabins.
This is not to belittle our other parks.   We have a great State park system with a lot of great parks.   Hopefully, we'll get to visit them soon.   Some of the others I frequent often are Shades, McCormick's Creek, Spring Mill, and Brown County.   Less frequently we've been to Shakamak and Clifty Falls.   That's not even mentioning all the State Recreation areas and State Forests.   Well, I guess I mentioned them, didn't I.   What's amazing to me about all the parks is that they are all unique in some way.   One may have a waterfall, another caves, one great boating, and another may be known for spectacular fall foliage... but each has something that sets it apart from the rest.   And the same park won't be the same two seasons, or even two days, in a row.
When the kids were younger we'd go to the park every weekend.   I've tapered off now.   I don't know if it is because I'm older or just that I have a lot more to do now than I did back then.   Whatever the reason we don't go now like we used to.
I like to get to the park early, preferably before they're open, I like to be out on the trails alone when I'm taking pictures and there are very few people out and about on the trails then.   Plus, you get in free!   When ya go every weekend that's important.   We used to get the season pass, so, I wasn't actually sneaking in.   I still felt guilty though.   But, I can live with that.

See ya later
